Apple won’t deliver iOS 7 until later this year, but the decision to upgrade or stay with your current iPhone, iPad or iPod touch requires planning. That said, if you are loving what you see in Apple’s upcoming mobile operating system update, you need to know if your current iThing can run it.

For what it’s worth, comparing iOS 6 and iOS 7, Apple has dropped the iPhone 3GS and fourth generation iPods.
Additionally, not all iOS 7 features work on all OS compatible devices:
• Panorama format is available on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and 5G iPod touch. Square and video formats and swipe to capture are available on iPhone 4 or later, iPad 3 or later, iPad mini, and 5G iPod touch
• Filters in Camera are available on iPhone 5 and 5G iPod touch. Filters in Photos are available on iPhone 4 or later, iPad 3 or later, iPad mini, and 5G iPod touch
• AirDrop is available on iPhone 5, iPad 4, iPad mini, and 5G iPod touch and requires an iCloud account
• Siri is available on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 3 or later, iPad mini and 5G iPod touch
That said, Tapscape has posted a quick n’ dirty WWDC 2013 Keynote Round Up, which covers the broad points. For a point-by-point look at Apple’s upcoming mobile operating system update, check out What’s New in iOS 7.
