The Windows Phone 8 launch is over and the Nokia Lumia 920, the HTC Phone 8X and other highly anticipated WP8 devices are now official. But one of the most interesting things we picked up from the event is the existence of a “new” smartphone from Samsung, the ATIV Odyssey.
Tapscape, as well as other tech websites, have been rabidly reporting about all the upcoming WP8 smartphones, allowing people to know about the Nokia Lumia 920, the HTC Phone 8X and Samsung’s own ATIV S long before the launch. This is why everyone was surprised when the Samsung ATIV Odyssey was announced as part of the new hardware that would be sporting Windows Phone 8.
A device called Samsung Odyssey first flew into our radar when court documents part of the legal battle between Samsung and Apple revealed the existence of the device. According to those papers, the Samsung Odyssey will haveĀ 4.65-inch SuperAMOLED HD display, an 8 MP camera in the back supported by a 2 MP snapper in the front, NFC and 4G. Could this device and the Samsung ATIV Odyssey be one and the same?
Other people think that the Samsung ATIV Odyssey is actually the Samsung ATIV S but if that’s the case, why was a placeholder image used for the device when pictures of the latter have been floating around the internet for months?
If you’re intrigued about the Samsung ATIV Odyssey just like us, the good news is that we won’t have to wait long for more details — the device has been pegged as an exclusive for Verizon and will be available starting in December. We’ll be sure to keep our ears on the ground for more updates on the Samsung ATIV Odyssey. Be sure to check back for more updates!
