A series of photos have emerged from an alleged “iPad 3 prototype” debug report, which appear to confirm rumors of the 4G LTE capability of Apple’s third-gen iPad. The reports also provide evidence that the iPad 3 will be powered by a quad-core processor.
The photos were published by BGR, with an anonymous source quoted as the origin of the images. The iPad 3 is referenced in the photos with the same code-names – iPad3,1 and iPad3,2 which were first seen in similar reports late last year. The only difference between the two models appears to be the connectivity options – WiFi only vs GSM, CDMA and LTE.
While the iPad 2 sports a dual-core A5 processor, these latest images suggest an A6 quad-core processor with model number S5L8945X. At this stage, the legitimacy of the photos can not be verified and a debug report is something that can be easily faked.
Thus far, iPad 3 rumors have pointed towards a 4G LTE, quad-mode enabled device with a high-resolution “retina” display and improved front and rear-facing cameras.
