apple-music-beats-1

Surprise! Apple Music, at least for the moment, is a big success. And, if you are still running your iPhone, or Samsung, Moto, HTC, KG or whatever, on Verizon or AT&T, you probably should look into either Sprint or, hey, T-Mobile, which is allows free streaming of Apple Music!

T-Mobile CEO John Legere has announced that Apple Music is included in the carrier’s Music Freedom plan, which allows subscribers to stream music services for free — they don’t count against data caps.

“First, we’re amping up Un-carrier 6.0, Music Freedom and adding Apple Music to our list of 33 services that stream totally free on T-Mobile,” says Legere. “Now, every single customer who gets a new iPhone 6 this summer as part of this deal can simply swap it for the next iPhone, if they upgrade before the end of the year.

No fees, no deposit, no additional cost whatsoever. So, yes, boys and girls, if you’re still paying Verizon or AT&T for service, you really should have a look at T-Mobile or my carrier Sprint — you could be living larger for less.

Apple Music: 10 Million Subs and…

Hollywood rumor source HITS Daily Double, quoting label insiders, claims that Apple Music has already attracted 10 million subscribers.

“Inside sources at some of the major labels—who are bound by ironclad NDAs—say that Apple Music has attracted more than 10 million subscribers in a mere four weeks,” writes HITS Daily Double. “These sources, who risk possible waterboarding by Robert Kondrk and team for any fissures in Cupertino’s customary wall of silence, have been surprised by how many have signed up for the service during this initial free trial period.”

Of course, that last bit is the punchline. None of those 10 million are yet paying anything and won’t for at least another two months.

Nevertheless, kudos to Apple Music and its label partners for telling how things are going without actually saying anything at all. You’ve got admire Apple’s ability to manipulate the press or as Re/Code’s Peter Kafka says, “Apple Music Has 10 Million Users. We Have No Idea How Apple Music Is Doing”…
