According to iMore, the next generation Apple smartphone — presumably the iPhone 5 or iPhone 4G— will launch this October with 4G LTE connectivity, a 3.5 inch display, and an all new “micro dock” connector.
This report contradicts previous claims of a planned four inch display that would attempt to match its competitors. While the iPhone 4S proudly sports its smaller screen, Samsung’s Galaxy Note and Motorola’s Droid RAZR offer 5.3” and 4.3” displays respectively.
The latest iPad introduced 4G LTE connectivity, so it’s no surprise that Apple intends to add the functionality to their next handset.
While the October release date sounds a bit out of line, with multiple reports of a WWDC reveal in June, the iPhone 4S made its debut in October as well.
iMore, largely responsible for the initial reports of LTE connectivity in the third iPad, has been reliable in the past. The blog also pinpointed the tablet’s launch date and predicted its high definition display.
