7 Chakras is an iPhone app developed by lokesh Hanumappa. Created by a Reiki practicioner, 7 Chakras aims to help people track what activities are opening or blocking their chakras.

If you aren’t familiar with the concept of chakras, here’s a bit of background. In Hindu teachings, the human body has 7 chakras, or channels. Keeping your chakras aligned allows you to feel enlightened, open, and healthy. From the top of your head to the lower part of your abdomen, the chakras are as follows: crown, third eye, throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral, root.

The 7 Chakras app teaches people about the role that each chakra plays in a person’s wellbeing. In addition, this app allows users to record all of their activities. The app then reviews these activities, and alerts you if they have had a positive or negative impact on one of the 7 chakras.

For example, alcohol consumption is thought to negatively impact your sacral chakra (located 2 inches below the navel and thought to impact your kidneys and sensuality.) In contrast, having a spoonful of honey in the morning is a good thing to do for this chakra.

The 7 Chakras app is fairly easy to navigate, and has some good information about this ancient chakra belief system. You can take a test to see how your chakras might be misaligned, and also set up recurring alerts to keep you mindful of the effect your activities are having on your spiritual wellbeing.

If you buy in to the whole chakra system, this is definitely the iPhone app for you. But for skeptics, 99 cents is probably too much to spend on 7 Chakras.
