Jewelcrafting first came into the game as part of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. You use it for making necklaces, rings, trinkets, socketed gems and healing statues with the use of gemstones.
The reason jewelcrafting is useful is that it’s hard to find the likes of rings and necklaces when you are in the early stages of WoW Classic expansions. Recipes for jewelcrafting have been introduced for The Burning Crusade that take it from 300-375 levels. If you want to become one of the masters jewelcrafters in the game, then you will firstly need to have gotten your jewelcrafting up to 300. Once you have reached this point, you will then be able to get started on the 300+ recipes from the outlands. If you decide to stay on the Classic era servers, then you won’t be able to make the most of what jewelcrafting has to offer.
How Does Mining Help Jewelcrafting?
Which brings us onto the question of what profession you should use when jewelcrafting. Mining is a major candidate for the best pairing with jewelcrafting on your WoW TBC Classic account. The reason as to why this is such a popular choice is that ore is going to be a primary ingredient for the raw materials that you use. A lot of the materials that you need come through mining, after which you can start using the art of prospecting to get more.
That said, you could also ramp up the amount you produce by using alchemy as well. This gives you the opportunity to make gems that are the highest level. You have two gem transmutes that make the diamonds you need to make meta gems. These are earthstorm diamond and skyfire diamond. You will need to have mining materials if you don’t want to part with your hard-earned WoW TBC gold.
Prospecting
You will find prospecting useful as well with this skill. Prospecting is where you convert 5 ores into material that you use when jewelcrafting. The ore is destroyed to get materials and gems. When playing World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, you will find that you get lower to middle quality gems from prospecting. You are now guaranteed to get at least a single gem when you’re in the early stages of the expansion. You may be aware of the act of mass prospecting, in which you could process 20 ores. However, this won’t be available in World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, since it wasn’t introduced until the Legion expansion was released.
What Race and Class Should I Use?
We have a new race with the Draenei Alliance in The Burning Crusade. It has a trait that is exclusive to that race called gemcutting. This will add +5 to your jewelcrafting skill, so if you are going to choose the Draenei race, then you should make jewelcrafting a part of it.
As far as classes go, you don’t really need to worry about which one you choose. All of the classes are able to benefit from jewelcrafting, since the primary requirement to make the most of it is to have gems and jewellery.
Crafting Items
For crafting jewelcrafting items, you will need a couple of WoW TBC items to help you. When you are near the jewelcrafting trainers, you will find a jewelcrafting vendor. The first WoW TBC Classic item is a jeweler’s kit, which you need for crafting rings, necklaces and such. You will also need a simple grinder so that you can cut gems. Both crafting items will need to be in your inventory if this is going to work.
