Citing a ‘most reliable source’, iLounge have posted an interesting little tidbit of information pertaining to the much-rumored iPad 3.
The source claims that the third-generation iPad will go against the Apple mantra of “thinner, lighter, faster” and feature a thicker design (0.7 mm thicker) in order to accommodate a special twin-light bar system required for the new high-resolution display. According to the source, we could get a glimpse of the iPad 3 as early as January next year, on track for a March 2012 release.
This timeframe seems to be in keeping with production information as reported by Digitimes who state ‘industry sources’ who say that Apple’s display partners Sharp, LG and Samsung have already shipped one million units of the iPad 3’s high-res flat panels and have begun shipping to Foxconn, Apple’s iPad manufacturer.
