A Taiwanese newspaper recently reported that the next Apple tablet could launch on February 24, in commemoration of the birthday of Steve Jobs.
With the first shipment of the iPad 3 expected to exceed four million units, sources close to five Taiwanese manufacturers told the Economic Daily News that the new tablet would launch in February or March.
An unnamed source said that the iPad division of Hon Hai Precision Industry will only be allowed five days of leave during the Chinese New Year holiday, in order to meet delivery targets. Many in China take up to two weeks of leave around Chinese New Year.
Hon Hai, a company part of the Foxconn Technology Group, is the chief iPad assembler.
Apple has marked the birthday with two announcements in the past. Earlier this year, Apple updated its MacBook Pro line. The Cupertino based company also announced the launch of Safari 4 on the same date in 2009.
