LG Spectrum 2

Verizon’s been busy the past few weeks, racking up amazing phone after amazing phone to join their fall line-up. In addition to recent acquisitions like Nokia Lumia 822 and the Samsung ATIV Odyssey, both of which are Windows Phone 8 units, we’ve got word that Big Red  is also planning to beef-up its Android portfolio by adding the enticing LG Spectrum 2.

The LG Spectrum 2 will be part of Verizon’s premium smartphone offerings that can take advantage of its fast-growing 4G LTE network. The device comes with a generous 4.7-inch True HD Advanced AH IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720, Gorilla Glass, a 2150 mAh battery, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Krait dual-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, supported by 1 GB RAM, and 16 GB internal storage.

For camera enthusiasts, the LG Spectrum 2 be packaged with an 8 MP/1.3 MP camera combination, a configuration that’s quickly becoming a standard for newer phones in this class.

What should really make the LG Spectrum 2 standout, however, is that it is reportedly capable of wireless charging via the replaceable battery cover that comes in the box. That’s one of the features of the Nokia Lumia 920 that’s gotten everyone excited and hearing the same on a high-end Android device makes us a  little bit giddy. We’re waiting for a response from Verizon and LG as to how exactly this feature will work on the device so be sure to stay tuned for that.

So how long do you have to wait before you can get your hands on this awesome new smartphone from LG? That’s the best part — the device is available starting today, October 30! Technically, it will be in store shelves “in the coming weeks” but it is now listed on the Verizon online store. What’s more, the LG Spectrum 2 costs a mere $99 (after a $50 mail-in rebate) with a new two-year contract.
