ipad-apple-event-oct-22

Well, to be specific, Apple has sent invitations to select journalists and bloggers for an Apple Event scheduled for Tuesday, October 22, though the company hasn’t said what they will say. That’s so Apple. Nevertheless, pretty much everyone expects to see the iPad 5, iPad mini 2 (Retina?), Darth Vader’s helmut Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks.

Apple is stoking these expectations with its invitation, which includes the entreaty, “We still have a lot to cover.”

As part of Tim Cook’s “busy Fall,” the mothership has already delivered the iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iOS 7, iTunes 11.1 and Haswell-powered iMacs.

[u] Apple will stream, via satellite, its October 22 Apple Event live to London, England for employees, which would seem to indicate the event won’t be streamed live online. Sigh…

Apple Event: Half-time Is Over

Tapscape, among a host of others, predicted next week’s Apple Event. Likewise, pretty much the whole planet, at least the parts that matter, are also predicting:

• An iPad mini Retina, though some are saying it will just be an iPad mini 2 with no Retina display

• Public release of OS X Mavericks

• 2013 Mac Pro, a.k.a. Darth Vader’s helmut

• iPad 5, which is expected to be thinner and smaller (i.e. narrow bezels) a la the iPad mini

Mostly unmentioned by the rumor mill is the status of MacBook Pro and Mac mini updates. Nevertheless, most observers Apple to push out Haswell-flavored pro portable and consumer desktop updates — these will arrive sans any meaningful fanfare or flourishes, a press release at most.

Are you excited to finally see the REAL iPad 5 and iPad mini 2? How about Darth Vader’s helmut, would a pay $5,000 bucks for that?
