The Nokia Lumia 1320 is best described as a lower-end counterpart to the Nokia 1520. They’re both 6-inch Windows smartphones, but the 1320 is a lower-spec, cheaper phone which puts a big phone with reasonable functionality in your hand for about $340.
Nokia Lumia 1320 Features
The Lumia 1320 packs a 720p (1280 x 720 pixel) 6-inch display with 8GB of onboard storage (expandable to 64GB via microSD) and a 5MP rear-facing camera with 1080p video capture and LTE on most models. Nokia’s Lumia 1320 is powered by a dual-core 1.7 Ghz Snapdragon CPU, paired with 1GB of RAM.
Most important in terms of usability, the Lumia 1320 weighs in at a massive 220g. This is double the iPhone 5S, which granted, is a much smaller phone. Even when compared to other phablets, it’s still heavy, with the the Galaxy Note III weighing in at 168g. It’s not much heavier than some others however, like the HTC One Max and Galaxy Mega – but it is heavier.
The design is straight-forward, simple and safe. Nokia haven’t tried to push any boundaries with the Lumia 1320. The device has a flat back with gentle curves toward each of the corners and is housed in a work-horse matte-finish plastic. Color-wise, the 1320 is available in the standard Windows-phone tones of red, white, black and yellow.
The camera on the Lumia 1320 is entry-level, with a simple 5MP shooter on the back. It’s a camera that will take an ‘ok’ picture and decent quality video, but comparisons with the 20MP camera on the more up-market 1520 are hard to make.
On the plus side, the Nokia Lumia 1320 features the same 3,400 mAh battery as it’s bigger brother. As a result, the 1320 has excellent battery life for a phone this size and easily delivers a full work-day of active use.
Bottom-Line
Nokia have really stripped down the Lumia 1520 to create the Lumia 1320, and it’s a product which is only going to appeal to a small number of users. If you’re in the market for a 6-inch Windows Phone at an affordable price, the Lumia 1320 may fit the bill. The decent display and good battery life are let down by the sheer weight of the device and lack of any creativity in the presentation.
