Just a week after releasing iOS 8 to the public, Apple attempted to quickly follow up with a bug squashing update, iOS 8.0.1. However, the company was quickly overwhelmed with complaints from users that iOS 8.0.1 over-the-air caused a number of serious problems.
Trouble with a capital “T” and that rhymes with “P” and that stands for pool!
iOS 8.0.1 has caused a large number of iPhone users to report that they can no longer establish and/or maintain a cellular connection (aka a phone call) and that Touch ID no longer functions. Further, these issues are apparently specific to those users that applied iOS 8.0.1 as an over-the-air update.
Due to these issues, Apple has pulled iOS 8.0.1 Update.
That said, the no cell service and missing Touch ID functionality exclusively affected iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus owners. According to various blogs and forums, iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s owners were not affected.
New in iOS 8.0.1 Update
One images Apple is working feverishly to fix these issues and will soon re-release the Update. In the meantime, here is a listing of the fixes, features and tweaks baked into iOS 8.0.1 Update.
— Fixes a bug so HealthKit apps can now be made available on the App Store
