Comex, the developer behind a series of popular iOS jailbreak utilities, has been hired by Apple. His JailbreakMe tool is widely considered the easiest jailbreak tool to use. While some tools require extensive tutorials, JailbreakMe 3.0 only requires users to visit a website and tap a few buttons.
JailbreakMe will not be able to successfully jailbreak your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad if you are running the latest firmware. Apple patched the vulnerability discovered by Comex earlier this year. More than 1 million consumers used JailbreakMe to jailbreak their Apple device before the exploit was patched.
Comex confirmed his internship via his Twitter account:
It’s been really, really fun, but it’s also been a while and I’ve been getting bored. So, the week after next I will be starting an internship with Apple.
It’s understandable that Apple would rather have the man behind JailBreakMe working for them rather than exposing their security holes.
