Millennial Media, a popular mobile advertising platform, released its quarterly ‘Mobile Mix Report’ early yesterday morning.
According to the report, Android based devices accounted for more than 56 percent of mobile advertisement impressions across the Millennial Media ad network in the third quarter of 2011, doubling up on Apple’s iOS operating system.
Android powers 15 of the top 20 mobile phones across the Millennial network, with HTC manufacturing multiple top Android smartphones. iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices were responsible for just 28 percent of total impressions.
BlackBerry generated 13 percent of impressions in the third quarter, while Windows Phone, Symbian, and other rival platforms splitting the remaining 3 percent.
The most impressive statistic? iPad traffic jumped more than 456 percent year over year.
