MobileMe is one of those services that every even moderately forgetful iPhone user should consider investing in. The service allows you to locate a lost or stolen iPhone from your computers desktop, and then have that phone make noises so you can find it. You can also send your phone messages from the service, allowing you to contact anyone who might find the phone. After all that if you can’t locate it you can lock the device remotely, or even remotely wipe all of the data from it.
While the new app is pretty much useless if your phone is stolen, it can be useful for a fellow iPhone owner who may have misplaced their phone. The app allows users to log-in to any Mobile me account, and then contact the phone it is linked with. In addition to iPhones the app can also be used on the iPad and the iPod Touch.
Find My iPhone is available now for free from the app store. Use of the application however requires you to have a MobileMe account, which is currently priced at $99 per year.
