Your job is simple: save the Earth from certain doom. Asteroid after asteroid is hurtling towards the planet, and it’s up to you to plot the correct course to fly a rocket into those ‘roids and blow them to smithereens.
But there’s a catch: to make maximum impact, you’ve got to steer the rocket so that it collides with explosives in its path, thereby making the impact on the asteroid as explosive as possible.
Controls for Boom the Rock are pretty straightforward. Drag the line for the rocket’s course into the correct path, and then tap to launch the rocket. But be careful, the asteroid just keeps getting closer to Earth, so you need to move with speed and urgency. Plus, there are moving objects like space debris and aliens that can block the path of your rocket.
The graphics in Boom the Rock are a little spartan, but the combination of geometry, timing, and luck you need to beat each level keeps you from spending much time thinking about how the graphics could be improved. And with 64 levels to master, the puzzle-tastic planning you need to beat Boom the Rock is sure to keep you entertained and challenged.
While the music and SFX are a little cheesy, they don’t distract from the fun of solving the puzzle in each level. And Doc the Mad Scientist is pretty entertaining, injecting a comedic storyline that enhances the puzzle aspect of Boom the Rock.
