Google Play Music is finally reaching Canada with its 20 million songs, free online storage, and All Access streaming. Google made the announcement on the Google Canada blogspot page and confirmed that Canada would be receiving all of the same features with Play Music as what US customers have access to.
Canada Play Music: Price
To kick things off, Google has announced that it will be offering the service at a slightly discounted price to Canadian users until June 30. Those who choose to sign up by that date will receive monthly access to Play Music for $7.99 rather than $9.99.
Canadian’s have gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to streaming services and even now, very few services are available to people outside of the United States. Due to content licensing agreements and other limitations, Pandora, Hulu, and others are all unavailable to Canadian customers.
Google Play Music lets you create an ad-free, interactive radio station from any song or artist you love. You can add, remove or re-order your station and see what’s coming next. Or you can browse recommendations from our expert music team and explore songs by genre. The “Listen Now” tab puts artists and radio stations we think you’ll like front and center so you can start listening the minute you open your library. – Google
VPNs have been used extensively around the world in order to get around the blocks but recently, Hulu began blocking IP addresses that are associated with VPNs. As a result, unless a service is officially available outside of the United States, it may be impossible to access it. Luckily, Google has been able to expand Play Music and is celebrating it with a cheaper subscription price for early adopters.
Summary: Google Play Music is finally reaching Canada, after being exclusive to US customers. Those who sign up in Canada soon will receive monthly access at a $2 discount.
