Epic Defense TD 2 is an iPhone game developed by Cat Studio/Yongcheng Qi. Featuring a blend of simple controls and complex storylines, this tower defense title has a cool fantasy element.
Epic Defense TD 2 is subtitled “The Wind Spells,” and it is the second installment of the Epic Defense series. The first game in the series can be found here.
Featuring 21 elaborately designed levels, two different game modes, and three difficulty levels, Epic Defense TD 2 is quite the package. You strengthen your towers with various jewels, and there is an elaborate “spell book” that can help you strategize how to best use those gemstones.
One thing I dislike is this spellbook: the combination of elaborate “script” font and small font size makes the darn thing nearly impossible to read, especially given how some of the word breaks are unnatural. It also doesn’t provide enough real, actionable info for using each type of tower strategically.
Another thing that irked me was how precise the drag and drop controls are: you need to slowly and precisely drag gems on top of towers to upgrade them: getting close won’t cut it…but under battle conditions you sometimes are trying to work quickly to build new towers and miss the fact that your upgrades haven’t kicked in.
With rewards for daily check-ins, a pulse-pounding epic fantasy soundtrack, and a creative resource management system, Epic Defense TD 2’s Wind Spells story is quite engrossing. If you love tower defense, give this game a try! Despite some flaws, it is overall a good game with tons of potential.
