Four Tech Trends to Look Forward to in 2023

As we race towards Christmas and the New Year, all the tech heads are gearing up for an exciting 2023. With the likes of Elon Musk continuing to inspire a generation, the future is bright for all things technology related and 2023 could be a game changer.

Therefore, the team here at Tapscape decided that it would be a good idea to take a look at four of the top tech trends we expect to come into fruition in 2023. Of course, the future is hard to predict and the landscape is constantly changing, but we are nonetheless incredibly excited for what 2023 has to bring.

Neuralink

The Elon Musk owned Neuralink could well revolutionise human life and illness as we know it. Musk and his employees hope that they will soon be able to make devices to treat serious brain injuries such as Dementia. Neuralink says they have engineered a surgical robot capable of inserting flexible probes into brains, capable of inserting six wires per minute. Technology is already at the stage where patients with Parkinson’s disease are able to visit a hospital in order to have implants inserted into their brains in order to help slow the symptoms of Parkinsons. Neuralink is hoping to evolve this technology much further.

Musk has also suggested that the eventual goal of Neuralink will be of human enhancement. Musk believes that sophisticated technology will enable humans to live for hundreds, if not thousands of years. He says that this technology will be able to address brain or spinal injuries and make up for whatever lost capacity somebody has with a simple computer chip surgically entered into the brain.

Of course, Neuralink has its critics which include several scientists citing numerous technological challenges for Neuralink. In addition, numerous neuroscientists have stated that Neuralink has provided no evidence that it can deliver on its objectives. However, I prefer to be optimistic and if Neuralink is able to help symptoms of major brain diseases, then we should do all we can to help create and deliver such technology.

Foldable iPhone

Mobile phone technology has stalled of late. Despite the major phone companies releasing brand new models on an annual basis, the updates that are made are not usually major ones. In 2022, foldable phones hit the market. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold was the first of its kind and offers users a truly unique mobile phone. Samsung and Apple remain the top mobile phone developers in 2022 and we expect this trend to continue into 2023.

The foldable iPhone has been rumoured, but there still has not been a final statement on whether or not Apple will go ahead with one. There have been rumours that Apple will go ahead with making a foldable phone, but it will not be an iPhone. Instead Apple are reportedly looking to launch a device that features a 20 inch OLED (organic light emitting diodes) display that measures 15 inches when folded. It is rumoured that the device will be more similar to a Macbook than an iPhone.

We are unsure why Apple is not planning to develop a foldable iPhone. Perhaps they think that foldable phones are a gimmick which will not long stand the test of time. It is likely that Apple will only launch a foldable iPhone if foldable phones do continue to be successful for years to come.

We do not expect a foldable iPhone in 2023, but we do expect to hear Apple’s remarks on such technology at some point in 2023.

Cluster Pays

Cluster Pays is a mechanic created and designed to be implemented in online slot machines. The Cluster Pays technology ensures that online slot games become much simpler to play, as they do not utilise the usual paylines, which can be rather complicated for everyone bar online slot professionals.

Cluster Pays tech works by clustering the symbols of an online slot together. In regular video slots, players must match up symbols across different paylines, but Cluster Pays games just need symbols to be touching each other. In 2023, we will witness numerous new tech trends for online slots including more Megaways, Megapays and Megacluster slots.

Currently, there are dozens of video slots which utilise Cluster Pays technology. The most popular Cluster Pays slots offer fun and appealing graphics as well as competitive RTPs which increase the likelihood of greater payouts. iGaming technology is always updating at a fast pace, so expect lots of cool initiatives from that sphere in 2023.

Twitter

Elon Musk is always trending in the tech world but his purchase of Twitter sent shockwaves and generated news headlines across the world. Musk has been recorded hoping that he can turn Twitter into a modern day town centre as well as to replicate China’s WeChat, which has been described as China’s app for everything including social media, instant messaging and a payment provider. WeChat also provides broadcasting (one to one messaging), video gaming, video conferences and the possibility to share photographs.

Musk has numerous plans for Twitter and has also stated that he wants Twitter to rival YouTube by encouraging content makers to work on Twitter. Musk says he plans for Twitter to be able to allow its users to share and upload videos for monetary gain. SInce his takeover, Musk has tweeted that Twitter is currently witnessing a record number of users and interactions. Additionally, the Twitter files instalments have shown that Musk still intends to fundamentally change Twitter from what it was before he took charge.

Of course, everything Musk touches does not quite turn to gold, but we truly hope that Twitter can bring a lot more positivity in the future.

The Changing Tech Landscape in 2023

We hope that you find this article on tech trends in 2023 useful and helpful. We are positive that this time next year, technology and science will have ensured that the landscape will have changed again. Fingers crossed though that tech continues to improve our lives. Like Lex Friedman preaches, technology should enhance humans’ love for each other rather than suppress it.
