Earlier this year Gionee released the Marathon M5, an Android phone boasting a fantastic 6,020mAh battery. Now the company is launching the M5 Plus and M5 Enjoy, which have larger displays.
The new M5 Plus sports a high-definition 6-inch display. In comparison, the Marathon M5 had a 5.5-inch display. It also boasts a superior Mediatek MT6753 chipset with Octa-Core CPU.
The best specification the M5 Plus boasts is its battery. This handset comes with a fast charging 5,020mAh battery. That gives it a two-day battery life, but note that the Marathon M5 had a 6,020mAh battery.
This upgrade also includes something missing from the Marathon M5. Gionee has added a fingerprint scanner to the M5 Plus’ home button.
“The other day I asked on Weibo whether users would like a fingerprint identifier at the back or front,” said Gionee CEO Lu Weibing. “Nearly 80 percent users voted for a front fingerprint identifier.”
With 3GB of RAM, the M5 Plus has the same amount of RAM as the M5. However, Gionee has doubled the M5 Plus’ amount of built-in storage. The M5 Plus now has 64 GB of built-in storage, which you can expand to 128 GB with microSD.
