Sense 5 Coming to Current Lineup of HTC Android Phones

Hoping to get a “sense” of the new Sense 5 on your current HTC phone? A question from a Facebook user asking about the new HTC Sense 5 prompted this response from HTC:

HTC will be offering upgrades to some of its existing devices in the next few months, including global variants of HTC One X, One X+, One S and the HTC Butterfly. Also, note that some features enabled by the new HTC One hardware will not be available in the software updates.

This is exciting news for fans of the HTC Sense skin, that is unless your device is not listed.  I’m speaking to you Droid DNA owners.  This news comes on the heels of the recently announced HTC One: a beautiful aluminum bodied slab that will be HTC’s flagship phone for 2013.

Sense 5 Features

BlinkFeed: A Windows Phone tile like social and news feed. It scrolls vertically on your Home screen. You can still have the traditional Home screen, as BlinkFeed does not completely replace it.

Zoe: I’ve always been impressed with the functionality Sense adds to the stock Android camera app, and Zoe is no exception. It takes 20 pictures and a three second video each time you press the shutter button. You can put that all together and create a great highlight reel.

Remote Control with Program Guides: This has to be one of the most useful features added to a smartphone. Control your DVR and TV with the remote control, and be notified when your favorite programs are on.

New Lock Screen, Home Screen and App Drawer: A general overhaul all together.

No date was given when existing phones may receive this update, but we will see the new Sense 5 on the HTC One, set to be released on March 15th.

Who is considering the HTC One just to get a taste of the new Sense 5?
