Huawei Matebook arriving in the US to take on Surface Pro 4

Microsoft managed to reduce the performance gap between Surface Pro 4 and notebooks through its impressive specifications but there are always competitors around that will provide their own products with the same specifications, but with a cheaper price. In comes Huawei Matebook, the latest 2-in-1 carrying a starting price of $699 and will be arriving in the United States to take on Surface Pro 4, Microsoft’s current flagship Windows 10 powered tablet.

The $699 price tag of Huawei Matebook will get you 4GB of RAM, plus 128GB of flash storage and before you ask, Intel’s Skylake processor family is going to be a part of the CPU lineup. Unfortunately, there are no i5 or i7 models that will be present inside the Matebook but the low-powered Core m3, m5 and m7 (present in the highest configured model). Needless to say, if you are going to be looking for something with more firepower, then you should look for something else right away.

As for the screen size and resolution of Huawei Matebook, it features a 2160 x 1440 resolution and a 12.9-inch screen. The screen is larger than Surface Pro 4 and the smaller resolution also means that you’ll be able to get more battery life out of the tablet. Keep in mind that the $699 price tag only gets you a Huawei Matebook and the pen accessory that the company has took to calling it the Mate Pen. According to Liliputing, you will not receive the keyboard accessory, but will have to purchase it separately.

However, we figure that it will carry a much smaller price tag that what Microsoft is charging for its accessory dedicated for a Surface Pro 4. For its price, Huawei Matebook can definitely compete with a Surface Pro 4, but if you’re looking for additional firepower, then you’ll be far better off with a notebook. A $699 can fetch you a very decent laptop if you happen to look around for a while.
