Apple’s long-awaited iOS update has gone live today, with the final release of iOS 5 now available for download. Apple has seeded successive iOS 5 beta updates to developers since June, but today marks the official launch of iOS 5 for all iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users.
To update your device to iOS 5, use Apple’s software auto-update feature or simply open iTunes and click “Check for Update”. iOS 5 comes with a number of highly anticipated features, unveiled during WWDC earlier this year. Among them, the new Notification Center, Newsstand, iMessage, Reminders and full Twitter integration.
iOS 5 is compatible with all iOS-enabled devices, including the iPhone 3GS and 3rd generation iPod Touches, as well as the original iPad. The iPhone 4S will ship with iOS 5 when it launches on October 14th.
