A day before the iPhone 5 launch, Facebook CEO Marck Zuckerberg made a rare public appearance at the TechCruch Disrupt conference in San Francisco. During the event, Zuckerberg discussed Facebook’s disappointing stock performance, what’s in store for the social media giant and what new products they have in the pipeline.
And for people holding out that Zuckerberg & Co. are working on a smartphone of their own, the CEO confirmed that a FAcebook phone is not part of the current strategy.
When asked about the Facebook’s plans to enter the smartphone wars, Zuckerberg immediately shot down rumors by saying that a Facebook phone “just doesn’t make any sense” and that the additional 10-20 million users a Facebook-developed smartphone would bring “doesn’t move the needle for us.”
Zuckerberg reveals that their strategy is to focus on mobile development and not to build their own hardware.
