With the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S now released, our attention is turned to next year and the iPhone 6. A new report suggests that it will feature a curved screen, but not exactly like the one I’m sure you’re thinking of.
Samsung came out with the first curved screen device which was said to ergonomically fit the hand better when holding the device. The new iPhone 6 however, as suggested by the report, will be a larger screened iPhone with a cover glass that curved downward at the edges.

Apple are planning on launching the iPhone 6 with two variants at 4.7-inches and 5.5-inches, closing in on the size of the current Galaxy Note 3 by Samsung. The two new iPhone 6 models are planned for release in the second half of 2014, and the report continues to mention that the larger displays will feature sensors which enable the device to detect different levels of pressure.
The report continues to state that the two new iPhone 6 handsets are still in development and plans have yet to be finalised, but it is likely that the iPhone 6 lineup will mimic the iPhone 5C/5S setup as revealed this year with a budget and more premium offering.
We have up until now only really seen devices with curved screens that curve upwards to mimc the cupping of the hand, as opposed to Apple’s proposed downward curve.
The pressure sensors which will enable heavy or light touches to be determined is still in production, with the report suggesting that the technology might not be ready for the iPhone 6 and will most likely be featured in subsequent models.
Consequently, could 2014 be the year when we see Apple finally depart from the 4-inch design it has had since the iPhone 5, and start offering devices with a larger screen?
