Apple is going to display an aberrant lineup of devices this year, according to BGR. The iPhone maker is known for holding onto the previous year’s flagship after the release of the newer generation models. However, this year, the almost new iPhone X could be dumped in favour of the new phones.
BGR quotes Kuo, a longtime Apple analyst who has made a lot of correct predictions in the past, that this year Apple will release two major smartphones. One of them would be a huge 6.5 inch phone, with a beautiful OLED display just like the iPhone X while the other one would be sporting an LCD display measuring 6.1 inches.
There’s no mention of the “Plus” models. For the past four years, we have seen every new iPhone tag along a bigger brother; even in 2017, the iPhone 8 was accompanied by the iPhone 8 Plus. Basically, we still don’t have any word on the future of the huge bezeled iPhone family (iPhone 8 and 8 Plus & their successors).
However, it’s easy to speculate that Apple would stick with iPhone 9 or whatever it’s going to be called (damn it Apple) because a lot of people still prefer Touch-ID over facial recognition which is still not proven and also its way cheaper.
So, to wrap it up, the iPhone X is still a great choice for a lot of people but if you think you may have to sell it in the future (after the release of the next generation iPhones) then you should reconsider your choices. However, if you don’t care about the resale value much, then you can still go with Apple’s iPhone Upgrade Program which is kind of expensive but makes sense if you’re okay with spending a little extra while saving time by not going around negotiating.
