Love Gears iPhone Game Review: A Lovely Monster Puzzler

Love Gears is an iPhone game developed by Naser Abdulghani. This cute puzzler features 54 different levels with colorful graphics and funny characters.

When three monster kids ask their monster dad how he met their mother, it starts a story where you must help the monster mom and monster dad reconnect by solving a series of tricky, addicting little puzzles. Basically, you need to rearrange the gears on the screen in order to get the cogs working together: this will engage the pulley system that will lower Momma Monster down to her future husband.

The end-of-level animations, while cute, do go on for a hair too long: I want to get to the next level right away when I’m on a roll, you know? Still, the overall cute factor is high here, between the charming sound effects and the cuddly character designs.

There are two things that might disappoint people who want to play this game. Currently, Love Gears only has language support for English speakers. Additionally, the game only has 54 levels at the present time. That’s actually a pretty good amount, IMO, but I know that any experienced puzzle fan can blow through that many puzzles in an hour or two.

If you’re looking for a cute puzzler that would be kid-friendly (or charming for even the most jaded adults), the blend of whimsy and cog logic in Love Gears is really quite appealing. If you’re a puzzle addict, Love Gears is worth your time (and your cash, not that you have to cough up much dough to purchase this cute game.)

Love Gears is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad. Requires iOS 4.0 or later.
