No LTE Functionality For iPhone 5

A research note from Apple analyst Peter Misek suggests that Steve Jobs isn’t planning a significant upgrade regarding the iPhone 5’s connectivity capabilities, particularly no LTE support.

Whenever the next version of Apple’s smartphone hits the market, Misek suggests that the device will only have incremental upgrades in comparison to the iPhone 4’s specifications. What else would you expect from a device that is supposedly launching as the iPhone 4S?

“We believe the likelihood of the iPhone 5 launch in September including LTE (Long Term Evolution) is now remote,” Misek wrote in his May 13th research note. “According to our industry checks, the device should be called iPhone 4S and include minor cosmetic changes, better cameras, A5 dual-core processor, and HSPA+ support.”

As for when the new iPhone will actually release? That’s anyone’s guess. While an April ‘Reuters’ article suggested a September iPhone 5 release, other rumors claim the next iteration will ship just before the holidays.
