Pashadelic is an iPhone app (official Facebook site here) that helps users find the best places on Earth to take amazing photos. Using crowdsourced data from photographers and photography fans, Pashadelic helps people to find the perfect location to take memorable photos.
Pashadelic is the brainchild of charming CEO Kenji Yamamura, who wanted to create a service that would help photographers and tourists alike capture the most stunning scenic vistas. Anybody can snap a quick pic of the Eiffel Tower while on vacation. But if you want a truly stunning souvenir pic, Pashadelic can give you the ideal place to stand when taking a picture, and other users can even give suggestions about when the light will be best for the pic.
Whether you take pictures for pleasure or for business, traveling to take great photos can be stressful. But if you know where you should take photos in advance, your travel will be more fun and efficient.
Pashadelic features a database of over 20,000 existing photo-spots, plus the ability to make a “wish list” of places you’d like to take a photo from some day. There is a great sense of community, though of course you do need to sign up in order to use the app. You can sign up with Facebook or with your email.
Once you sign in, you can see what snapshots are trending now. Click on one image to see who took it, as well as a map that shows where they were standing when the photo was taken. It would be cool if photos had timestamp or weather data, so that people looking to replicate those lighting conditions could do so with ease.
One issue I had was that when I clicked on a map image to get the route from my house to the photo location, I got redirected to the Google Maps mobile site, which gave me an error message and didn’t provide a route. I tried getting a route using the Google Maps app instead, and also got an error message.
Whether you’re a photo pro or just a casual lover of photography, Pashadelic will help you take your photography to the next level. I haven’t seen a photography app that is this innovative or this inspirational in quite some time. There are some improvements to be made, but keep in mind that this fresh new app isn’t even on Version 1.0 yet! This is one to watch.
