Reckless Getaway Review: High-Speed Getaway Action

Price: $2.99     Score: 10/10    Category: Games

The latest release from developer Polarbit, Reckless Getaway begins with a bang with the player thrust into the position of getaway driver after a bank robbery.

As freshly-stolen money flies out the back of the car, you race down icy roads, over freeways, under bridges, around trains, evade cops and plough through anything that gets in your way.  There are coins to pick up on the way, and power-ups to snag, but if you crash your car, you”ll lose stars which will prevent you from unlocking the next level.

Reckless Getaway is highly entertaining, with sharp crisp graphics, highly detailed environments and smooth game play. The top-down view is perfect for this type of game and the simplicity of the gameplay makes for an enjoyable chase-race experience. There are 16 tracks in total, providing more than enough variety to justify the $2.99 pricetag. The controls are simple to manipulate – either buttons on each side best online casino of the screen to steer, or change it to tilt controls. Both are impressively responsive.

The animation looks great and the sound effects are a good match. Even the background music is enjoyable, a rarity in iPhone games. Rockin” chase-scene tracks play throughout the game and make you feel as though you”re taking part in a heist in a Tarantino film.

The lack of real plot is not a huge draw back for Reckless Getaway – the game play is good enough that a story isn”t needed. You won”t want to take your hands off the steering wheel.

Bottom line: Reckless Getaway may not have much of a compelling storyline, but it”s got enough fantastic elements making overall stellar game play that you won”t notice. Just beware: it”s seriously addictive.

Reckless Getaway is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 3.0 or later.
