Samsung has had a bit of a dry spell in the tablet world, compared to their explosion in the mobile market. They have good tablets that are selling well, but comparing sales to the iPad and Kindle Fire, they are coming up short.
This may be one of the reasons why Samsung is readying up four different tablets for MWC 2013, in the coming weeks. According to SamMobile, a “Korean insider” has talked to the blog about the tablets and codenames.
We already know of one of these tablets, the eight-inch iPad Mini rival, the Note 8.0. Samsung had yet to show their hand against the Mini, and revealing the tablet early was an odd move we did not anticipate.
Unfortunately, Samsung have been tight lipped about all other devices. The leak mentions two under the name ‘Santos’, and we expect these two tablets to be the Galaxy Tab 3 range. This will include a new ten-inch and seven-inch model.
The Note 8.0 comes under the codename Kona, while the fourth tablet goes under the name Roma. We are not sure what this tablet will look like, but we suspect it may be a budget end ten-inch model, to compete with the Nexus 10.
We expect that like CES, Samsung will have a huge presence at this event, possibly showing off a whole range of new devices and gadgets. Whether any of these tablets are good enough to knock the iPad off the leaderboard, and stop the growth of the budget Kindle Fire, we are yet to see.
