The Samsung Galaxy S4 release date is coming, and Samsung wants everyone to be there (or be watching) when the announcement is made. Before the close of the Mobile World Congress, Samsung put out an invitation for a very public launch of the successor to one of the world’s most popular smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S3.

The wording of the invitation leaves nothing to the imagination – “Be ready 4 the next Galaxy”. There’s no doubt that the Samsung Galaxy S4 release date and features will be unveiled at the March 14 event in Times Square, New York City.
In a start contrast to the private-invite and press-only events held by Apple, the launch of Samsung’s latest Galaxy handset and the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S4 release date is going to be a very public affair. If you’re not able to make it down to New York, Samsung have made it clear that “You can watch via live stream and experience Samsung’s new flagship smartphone at Times Square.” And to add to the building speculation about what Galaxy S4 features will be revealed, the invitation has been marked as ‘Episode 1’ – hinting that there are more big announcements to come in 2013.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Features
While there is still a significant amount of uncertainty, the Samsung Galaxy S4 features that we’re expecting to see come March 14th include a lightning-fast eight-core Exynos 5 Octa processor, independent GPU and a huge 2GB of RAM. There have also been a number of rumors pointing toward a quad-core Snapdragon 600 due to battery-life and LTE compatibility issues with the Exynos. While the exact tech specs remain unknown. If the Samsung Galaxy S4 does launch with the Exynos CPU on board, it will be the world’s first smartphone powered by an eight-core processor.
Unlike the innumerable (and accurate) iPhone 5 design leaks and rumors prior to its launch, there have been very few indications as to what the Samsung Galaxy S4 is actually going to look like. It’s unlikely that Samsung will make a significant departure from the current winning formula. Reports have suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will feature a 4.99-inch Full HD SoLux Display with a native resolution of 1080 x 1920, delivering a massive 450 pixels per inch.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Price
As with previous product launches, we expect that the Samsung Galaxy S4 price will remain almost identical to the current model Galaxy S3. The Galaxy S3 has already seen some heavy discounting from many network providers, which had provided hints that the long-awaited Galaxy S4 release date was approaching even before the announcement of the New York launch event.
If prices remain stable compared with last year, the Galaxy S4 price should fall at about $199 for a 16GB model and $249 for the 32GB device. If you’re hoping to pick up a new Galaxy S4 off-contract, then you’ll probably be looking at $599 for the 16GB and $649 for the 32GB. Given that there are a lot of reports about a cheaper iPhone on the horizon, it’s unlikely that Samsung will put any further price pressure on their consumers.
We’ll be there when the Samsung Galaxy release date and features are announced at the Times Square event, which starts at 7pm EST.
