The Schmidt that comes out of his mouth and, often just as bad, Google+ page. Google chairman Eric Schmidt, it seems just prove he’s still alive, pops up from time to time and says bizarre, headline grabbing things. A case in point is his statement over the weekend that ‘everyone’s switching to Android.’ Yeah…
Back in December 2012, Eric Schmidt claimed that, “By the summer of 2012, the majority of the televisions you see in stores will have Google TV embedded.”
Needless to say, that didn’t happen. In fact, not even a little — complete bullcrap.
Now, the king of Schmidt talk is back with a post — great big 900+ word chunk of text — on his Google+ timeline (no link) with some silly claims.
“Many of my iPhone friends are converting to Android,” writes the Google chairman. “The latest high-end phones from Samsung, Motorola and the Nexus 5 have better screens, are faster, and have a much more intuitive interface.”
Friends, Eric? Maybe, but iPhone friends? Um, no.
While intelligent people can argue over screen size and the finer points of interface design, there is no question that the A7 processor inside the iPhone 5s, iPad Air and Retina iPad mini is easily the fastest mobile chip on the planet.
So, everyone’s switching and for those reasons? That’s about as valid as Eric’s claim that most televisions would adopt Google TV someday.
Further, whatever people are using Android definitely fall into the “heehaw demographic.” Apple makes and sells ultimate mobile devices, not Yugos…
What’s your take?
