Snake My Day is an iPhone game developed by Code Sharp Limited. The game’s title is a playful take on the famous Clint Eastwood quote from “Dirty Harry”: “Go ahead, make my day!” If you want to make your own day, this enjoyable Snake game may be just the ticket.

If you grew up as a child of the arcades, Snake will be a familiar title to you. Growing up, the arcades had all kinds of takes on the Snake game, from Blockade to Checkmate, and the old Atari console had a similar title called Surround. Later on, when Nokia became the dominant phone maker and included a version of the game on its phones, Snake became a huge hit again.

This version of Snake is marked by its control systems. There are four on-screen arrows used to control direction. The size of the buttons is a little awkward, and in both two thumbed and single fingered playing styles, the controls do feel a bit awkward at times. A virtual joystick might have felt more smooth in comparison.

In contrast, the alternate control mode (“clockwise” mode) give users just two buttons, which turn the snake either left or right. It is also possible to control the snake by tapping on the screen around the snake: however, this method of control was the least reliable, with not all taps getting recognized.

However, Snake My Day is still quite enjoyable. Single player mode features a number of challenging obstacles, while the “versus computer” mode gives you the added challenge of another snake to avoid and compete against.

In the Chinese Zodiac, 2013 is the year of the snake. One way to celebrate might just be to play this addictive arcade classic. Boasting over 40 levels, 3 worlds, and both classic and versus computer modes, Snake My Day is lots of fun for a very small price.

Snake My Day is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 4.3 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.
