Snapverse is an iPhone app developed by Snapverse Inc. Not to be confused with the similarly-named app Snapchat, Snapverse is an app that blends music, video and photos into a potent new form of communication.
Sometimes, text or a picture alone can’t do your status update justice. That’s where this app comes in. Basically, Snapverse lets you take video or photos, add music, and create a 20-second creation (called variously a “snap” or a “pop.”)
The creators of Snapverse aim to create a service that has the same unique, flexible, and amusing communicative properties as an emoji. In my opinion, however, a “snap” from Snapverse is way more fun, cool, and clever than an emoji.
The most recent version of this app is Version 1.3. This version has several big improvements, including bug fixes that resolved crashes when adding hashtags or @-mentions to your updates.
Another new feature in this version of Snapverse is the new camera. It now boasts controls to shoot framed or full screen. You can also better see the length of your recorded clips.
Snapverse has a really great interface, and it is a lot of fun to use. It seems like every few years, we get a big leap forward when it comes to fun communication tools, and this app is really top notch.
It’s that rare sort of app that feels like meaningful communication rather than just another tool for ho-hum status updates. These “snaps” are so much fun to make and review!
If you’re looking for a new app to share your happiest news and experiences, Snapverse is the app you want.
Snapverse is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad. Requires iOS 6.0 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.
