Apple has launched yet another new promotion alongside Starbucks. iPhone and iPod Touch users who make a purchase at Starbucks will be given the opportunity download a featured app for free. While the two companies have been partnered for a while, this is the first time they are offering iOS applications to customers free of charge.

The “Pick of the Week” cards that have the promotion code to download the app for free should feel familiar to any Starbucks regular. Each card is good for one download each and will be . The first app to be offered through the program is Shazam Encore, a popular music identification app. ‘Encore’ is a premium application that normally costs $5.99 from the App Store.

Starbucks didn’t mention whether or not iPhone apps will entirely replace music choices.
