Super Pop Review

Price: Free     Score: 3/10     Category: Games

Developed by William Sickles, Super Pop is a simple pop-bubble-wrap-as-fast-as-you-can game for iPhone.

A free download, Super Pop should work well as an easy pick-up-and-play title. But it doesn’t. Unfortunately, there is a bug in the control system that means the bubble’s you tap are not the bubble’s that pop. And that is a pretty big bug for a game that doesn’t involve anything else but bubble popping.

Sometimes, tapping on the screen results in a bubble popping at a random location elsewhere, and sometime even tapping madly results in no bubble’s being popped at all. I downloaded and ran the game on both an iPad and an iPhone 4S with both devices having the same issue.

The game has both standard and timed game modes as well as the option to upgrade the app for $0.99 to ‘Premium’, which gives you access to Super Pop’s third game mode, Fruit Match, where you have to uncover and then match the hidden fruit. However, without a game update to fix the control bug there is absolutely no incentive to upgrade.

On the positive side, the soundtrack to Super Pop isn’t bad, and the menu-systems and options are all solid – there is just one big problem that needs fixing before this game is playable.

Super Pop is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 3.2 or later. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
