Selling my mobile phone now a days is a complex task as there are a lot more avenues to choose from. A number of retail stores like Cex offer that service where as there are many online recyclers such as Mazuma mobile, Musicmag pie and Rapid Phone buyer who buy Mobile Phones from its customers and pay them straight away once the mobile phone is being tested. Consumers have the option to sell their devices through facebooks market place, ebay and Gumtree but the fact is that it’s a complex task just as the mobile phone technology has evolved dramatically in the last 10 years so has the way it can be sold. When I tried to sell my iphone 7, I encountered different issues which I have mentioned below
Selling through Facebook’s Market Place
There is no doubt about the fact that selling anything through facebooks market place is much easier especially if you are selling it locally. Its most reliable when you are selling something heavy which includes white goods and furniture but when it comes to small technological goods, it gets tricky and you might encounter people with funny offer which are far away from the actual worth of the product. Above all if theres an issue with the product on a later stage you might start being harassed if you don’t take the product back, funny enough no matter ho much explanations you provide, you won’t escape the never ending slandering over the internet. I don’t like being involved in that kind of sales. Simply No for me.
Selling Through Ebay
Ebay policies always safeguard interests of buyers rather than the sellers and a device as complex as a mobile phone can always have issues and the buyer can claim it back through ebay return guarantee and above all the 15% ebay and paypal charges along with postage costs involved drop the price you receive. Another major point to consider is the fact that there are many wholesalers on eBay who leave no room for individual sellers as the guarantees they provide with used mobile phones are not possible for a normal person to match i.e 12 months warranty.
Selling Through Gumtree
In the UK, Gumtree has been very popular back in the days but the traffic has been moved to many other platforms especially facebook market place. And as the traffic has been diverted over the years, there isn’t any real value associated to getting things listed on Gumtree any more.
Selling to CEX and other retail stores of used products including pawnbrokers
If you need immediate cash, and you do not want any hessal then Pawn shopes and Used Goods retailers such as CEX is your best bet. But there is a catch; they offer you less than half the price of what the actual value of your used mobile phone is. So if you can wait for a bit there is another option which I have discussed in much more detail below.
Selling to online Mobile Phone recycling companies
There are several online companies which you can use to recycle your old mobile phone. When I wanted to sell my iphone 7 I used one of them and the results were much better as the whole transaction was hassle free. And I was paid much more than what I would have been paid online if I would have chosen to sell it myself. One of the impressing thing about these online recyclers is that most of the times they are even willing to buy your old mobile phone even if its faulty as long as it’s not un repairable. In the past I used them to sell my Samsung s7 which had a broken screen and was paid within few days. But you have to be careful as there are many recyclers now a days and upon enquiry I found out that it’s important to make sure you choose the best recycler with most positive reviews.
