I understand that wasting time on commuting or getting a demanding job that stresses you out are valid reasons why you have prioritised your family over work. However, I have compiled a short list with jobs that are perfect for stay-at-home mums, and they are worth trying in the new year.
Copywriter
Are you good with words? Do you always come up with the perfect catchphrase? If yes, you can work as a copywriter. A copywriter drafts the text of a written or spoken advertisement. A copywriter comes up with slogans, product descriptions, website and social media posts and so on. You can become a freelancer copywriter or you can become a member of the marketing team of a company.
Proofreader
If you are a language freak and you love spotting and correcting grammatical and syntactic errors, then you should become a proofreader. A proofreader reads texts and corrects any mistakes they find. Similarly to a copywriter, you can either work as a freelancer or as an employee at a company. Types of texts you may need to read are book manuscripts before printing, articles in print or online, contracts, brochures and many more.
Voice Actor
If your voice is your strong suit, you could try voice acting. You will need to control and manipulate the pitch and tone of your voice in order to express the right kind of emotion. You can practise and then upload a sample of you voice acting on Voquent. Then you will get discovered by casting agents and you will receive job offers, which you will be able to complete from the comfort of your home. The only requirement in order to be successful in this job is that you invest in a quality microphone.
Online Tutor
Being a mum means that you have spent a lot of time helping your kids study their homework. Why not do the same for other kids? You can tutor pupils who have difficulty keeping up with their classmates at subjects that you are good at. All the tutoring sessions can be online and at a time that suits you.
In addition to that, you can offer lessons on skills that you have acquired and you believe that you have what it takes to help other people master them as well. For example, if you speak a foreign language fluently or if you play a music instrument, you may find some adults who would like to become your students.
