Only recently we reported that Pod2g was progressing with the iOS 6.1 jailbreak but it simply was not ready for the prime time, missing a few fundamental components that would see a public release.
However, a recent tweet by Planetbeing, the guy working with Pod2g on the iOS 6 Jailbreak, himself should bring delight to Jailbreakers ears the world around, with “tons of progress” being made over the last few days.
Tons of progress the last few days. I think the future is looking bright for jailbreaking. 🙂

Pod2g reinforces this excitement by calling for Apple to hurry up and release iOS 6.1, sparking rumours that the Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 6 we have all been waiting for is in fact ready for a public release.
It was previously said that the team behind the Jailbreak were going to wait for iOS 6.1 to be released in order to ensure Apple do not patch the exploits used by the Jailbreak before releasing the upcoming minor update; this seems to still be the case.
Only a few weeks ago, there was a call to Apple to open up iOS to allow tweaks and themes to be submitted to the App Store, representing almost a white flag by the Jailbreak team admitting defeat. It can be assumed that this could have just been a ploy to fool Apple, which if true, would be very amusing. But whilst the amusing point was overlooked by most of us, it rang alarms in our mind leaving the thought of a Jailbreak for iOS 6 a distant dream. Luckily there are some very clever people working on it!
So whilst this latest news is exciting, we still are left with one piece left out of the puzzle, and that’s iOS 6.1. So Apple, if you’re ready this, release iOS 6.1 already!
