There’s no doubt that every male in the known universe is envious of those three lads on Top Gear.
When they go to work, they don’t sit behind a desk all day, slave away behind a hot stove or wade through sludge cleaning strange peoples drains! No sir, when Clarkson, Hammond and May head into work they are faced with the truly awful task of test driving the fastest, most beautiful and not to mention expensive cars money can buy the world over, travel the globe on utterly ridiculous adventures, hang out with celebs and then as a party piece, blow stuff up! We all want that job and since the position of ‘new Stig’ has been filled, the closest any of us are going to come to a job on Top Gear, is by living vicariously through the trio’s ‘Cool Wall’ app on the iPad.
The Cool Wall is a pretty simple program to operate; it runs just like the actual Cool Wall does on Top Gear. You are able to scroll through a list of car makers on the lower left hand corner of the screen, once your desired company has been chosen, a selection of photographs of that particular car company’s models are exhibited across the base of the screen. All you have to do is hold down on the picture and drag it online casino to where you think it belongs in the ranks of the prestigious ‘Cool Wall’. If you think the car is a bomb, or looks like a tissue box on wheels you can ditch it in the ‘Seriously Un-Cool’ section. Or maybe the car belongs to your mother in law, therefore belongs in the not as nasty ‘Un-Cool’ section…to avoid an argument. Or perhaps you could see yourself in that sexy little VW Golf, therefore placing it upon the ‘Cool’ section of the wall. Then you start moving into Aston Martin territory with the ‘Sub-Zero’ section of the wall, where only the very best can survive the blazing chill of Jeremy Clarkson’s wit.
The Wall is filled with sound bytes from the show, so you’ll more than likely cop a bit of a blasting from one of the Top Gear lads if they think you’ve chosen poorly. This actually gives you two ways to play the game, you can just create your own magnificent wall or you can try and recreate the actual Cool Wall (which you can view) by matching your placement with the sound byte. Each car on the wall also has a list of all its specs too, so unlike the show, you may actually learn something useful from this app.
The Finish Line: The Cool Wall is a bit of fun for car lovers & Top Gear fans alike, however even though you can import pictures of your own cars for the wall the longevity of this game is short lived, as once you’re through with the list provided…that’s pretty much it. But as the app is currently at $0.99, you can’t really complain. Where else are you going to find the world’s best super cars for a bargain like that?
