When it comes to 10-inch tablets, few come close to the popularity or total functionality of the iPad. For some of us though, Android makes more sense either because of more affordable pricing or simply because we like the flexibility, open nature, and shear amount of hardware options to be found in the Android world of tablets. If price is the leading factor for why you don’t have a 10-inch tablet yet, the Toshiba Excite 10 might be perfect for you.
This Toshiba model not only has a great 10-inch screen, but it is also powered by Android ICS and has pretty impressive specs. This includes the 1280×800 pixel screen with Gorilla Glass protection, a 1.2GHz Quad-Core Tegra 3 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 5MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, microUSB 2.0, microHDMI, GPS, and all the other goodies you’d expect from a relatively high range tablet.
Toshiba Excite 10 Offers An Exceptional Value
Many tablets with this kind of hardware start around $399 and up, but Costco is now offering the tablet for just $299.99- down from the original $449.99. Is it an iPad? No, but it has hardware that is actually about on par with the 3rd-gen iPad, with the exception of the Retina display, for several hundred cheaper.
This is the perfect media and basic creation tablet for those that can’t afford to pay $500+ but still want a reasonable level of functionality. Sure, there are even cheaper tablets out there with similar power in a 7-inch screen factor, but not everyone wants a small-screen tablet.
The offer is technically “limited time”, but it’s running all the way through December 1st, so no major hurry- unless they totally run dry of stock. The device can be purchased right from their online store.
Is the Toshiba Excite 10 the best tablet on the market? Maybe not, but it’s really hard to beat this price point. Of course this might only be the best 10-inch deal for a limited time, rumors claim Microsoft’s Surface RT might hit at $199 in a 10-inch form in a few months.
Are you tempted by the Thrive’s new price point or will you save up for an iPad or even wait for the iPad Mini?
