Gaming on Android has come a long way over the years, and Trial Xtreme 3 is a game that I just had to try, having played the previous versions of the game, to see what the developers have done with updated game engines and hardware.
Trial Xtreme 3, will take your breath away with its new innovations and amazing features. Tackle 76 completely original courses, fighting your friends for the race, win while carefully controlling your bike to ensure that you don’t fall victim to one of the many hundreds of mines, water pipes, or wrecked cars that are standing in your way.
The game is socially connected and you are initially prompted to log in to Facebook to challenge friends and also receive some additional funds for doing so.
The game contains 4 ‘worlds’ sporting different landscapes, terrain, and scenery, each with their own stages in. It reminds me of an Angry Birds style setup with each level producing a various amount of stars depending on your performance, together with the time you completed the course in, as well as how many points and coins you get for the stage. Obviously the quicker the time you complete it in, the more backflips you do, all influence your score.
A cool little feature I like about this game is you have to race against ‘ghosts’ which adds an extra competitive edge and is a nice addition over the ‘regular’ motorcross games I have played in the past.
The controls are fairly straightforward. The big green button is accelerate, the red button with the picture of a brake is, you got it, the brake, with the picture of the spring a button to give you a little bit of extra air on the jumps by compressing the suspension just prior to jumping. Leaning your bike forward or backwards to do backflips uses the devices accelerometer.
Using the dollars you collected during the stages, you can upgrade your bike, character, and extra bonuses to help you beat that ghost shadow, which I found extremely hard to do. And that’s probably my only criticism about this game, that, and the upgrade system needs a bit of work, but overall a very fun game that is very addictive and I definitely recommend it. Oh, and it’s free!
