Zombie Hell iPhone Game Review: Fun Undead Shooter

Zombie Hell is an iPhone game developed by Song Zuofei. In this 3D shooter, your goal is simple: take out hordes of the undead with tons of different weapons.

There’s a lot to like in Zombie Hell. But for every good thing, there seems to be some type of annoyance. There’s good music, but players also have to contend with annoying end-of-wave popup ads.

Zombie Hell has a good progression of difficulty, but the game lacks rewards for players with great aim: it doesn’t seem to matter where you hit the zombie, because it always takes the same number of shots to kill it! Players should be rewarded for making a tricky head shot, and those zombies shot in the head should go down faster than those shot in the leg or chest.

There are some minor quality issues throughout Zombie Hell, including words that are misspelled and annoyingly placed banner ads. But the real problem with this game is that if you pause the game, go out of the app, and then try to resume your previous game, you are outta luck.

Not only did I have to restart from the beginning, but I lost all of the coins that I had accumulated  to that point. I’d be okay with having to restart the game as long as I could use my coins to upgrade to a sweet new weapon. You’d better hope you don’t get a phone call while you’re playing this game, or you will be similarly frustrated.

Zombie Hell is actually pretty darn fun, in spite of all these issues. However, players should be aware that Zombie Hell can be frustrating at times. Still, if you REALLY love zombie shooters, this is worth checking out.

Zombie Hell is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad. Requires iOS 4.0 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.
