ios6-untethered-jailbreak

There’s been so much news recently surrounding the iOS 6.1 Untethered Jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5, with various teases suggesting it is coming soon. Well, here’s the biggest teaser yet. In what is believed the final beta of iOS 6.1 now having been released, the iOS 6.1 Untethered Jailbreak is ready for public release. Previously, the team behind the Jailbreak, named ‘Evad3rs’ stated it would not be released until a public version of iOS 6.1 was released to the public.

However, in a recent interview with iDigitalTimes, Pod2g (real name Cyril) confirmed that the team has both the iOS 6 and iOS 6.1 Untethered already, but we already knew that. What we didn’t know was that the Untethered Jailbreak is now ready for public release.

The majority of the work was apparently done by planetbeing and pimskeks, with Pod2g ‘unblocking the situation’:

“I arrived at the end, gave ideas that pushed them to their maximum, I kinda unblocked the situation, but it would certainly have happened without me helping. Now I am helping as much as I can in terms of communication, websites, and also development, but I was not involved the same way as previous, focused on my work and all… Yes, in order @planetbeing, @pimskeks, then me.”

Interestingly, he also stated that whilst working on the iOS 6.1 Jailbreak, they also found some exploits that can be used on the next iOS 7.

Since iOS 6.1 is almost in GM (or probably already is with Beta 5), it’s only a matter of time before Apple release iOS 6.1, most probably in the next few weeks, and you can bet only a few hours later that an Untethered Jailbreak for your iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 running iOS 6.1 will be released. The Jailbreak situation for life after iOS 6.1 also looks promising, a nice reassuring message coming only days after it looked like Jailbreak was all but dead.
